Luma Tutor Privacy

Luma Tutor is a reading and math app for one child at a time, with a parent in control. This page explains what the app does and does not do with information. It is written to meet COPPA expectations for a product used by children under 13.

Who we are

What Luma does not do

• No ads and no ad networks.
• No social feed, no friend lists, and no chat with strangers.
• No child accounts and no child sign-in.
• No location, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera collection.
• No sale of personal information, and no sharing of child data with data brokers.
• No kid-profiling analytics.
• Maya does not have a phone, email, or social account. The app does not ask a child to leave Luma to talk to her.

What may stay on the device

Lessons and progress can live on the device. A parent may type an optional first name for the child. That name stays on the device. Do not enter a last name, school name, address, or other identifying details.

A parent PIN protects settings. The PIN stays on the device.

Maya and xAI

Ask Maya talks to xAI Grok only if a parent stores an xAI API key in the device Keychain. The key is not sent to Jaceal and is not shown to the child. If no key is saved, lessons still work and Maya chat is off.

When a parent turns Maya on, the app sends the Maya system prompt, the current lesson, and the child’s typed turn to xAI so Maya can reply. Do not put private details (full name, address, school, phone, email) into that chat. Jaceal does not operate that model or keep those messages on our servers.

COPPA and parent control

Luma is meant to be set up by a parent or guardian. The parent gate keeps kids out of settings. We do not require a child to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child beyond what a parent optionally stores on the device.

A parent can remove the optional first name and the API key in settings, and can delete the app to remove on-device data.
